Chinese therapeutic massage is closely related to acupuncture in its use of the meridian system. It is considered to be very effective in the treatments of numerous health problems. It is characterised by the pressing and rubbing on certain meridians and acupoints with different parts of the hand and with varying degrees of force. Chinese therapeutic massage is often used in combination with herbal medicine to maximise benefits. It is an effective and comprehensive therapy and is regarded alongside acupuncture, herbal therapy and diet as one of the fundamental arts of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

All our treatments are provided by fully qualified TCM Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners with many years experience in Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture and Chinese Therapeutic Massage. Our practitioner will initially conduct a diagnostic interview, which includes asking questions relating to your health problems, taking your pulse and examining your tongue, before making recommendations and offering a prescription. Acupoint massage is one of the ancient and unique therapeutic methods of traditional Chinese medicine. It is based upon the traditional theories of qi, blood, visceral organs, meridians and collaterals, and is characterized by applying special pressing and rubbing on certain meridians, acupoint, muscles and skin areas with different parts of the palms and fingers and with various degrees of force, It includes pushing and stroking the meridians, digital and palmar pressing on the acupoints, kneading and grasping the muscles, and rubbing the skin, by which the flow of qi and blood in the meridians and collaterals will be promoted, the function of visceral organs regulated, and nourishment of muscles improved. Therefore, it can be used for treating and preventing diseases. It is called “acupoint massage” because the massage is chiefly applied to acupoints and meridians. Massage can enhance and speed up the action of herbal remedies, skilled hands can detect a wealth of diagnostic information and touch adds a deeply compassionate level to the act of healing. Furthermore the liniments, oils etc used in our Chinese therapeutic massage provide an additional channel for herbs to work. Chinese therapeutic massage is closely related to acupuncture in its use of the meridian system and is considered to be effective for a similar range of health problems. However it should not be seen as a poor relation to acupuncture. It is an effective and comprehensive therapy and is regarded alongside acupuncture, herbal therapy, diet and is one of the fundamental arts of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We often recommend combining therapeutic massage with herbal medicine as there can be great benefits.
